Nuffic Fellowships at the Hague Academy for Local Governance 2017/2018

About the Award: The Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (EP-NUFFIC) offers fellowships to participate in training courses in The Netherlands. The aim is to promote capacity building within organisations in eligible countries via training and education for professionals. This is initiated and (almost) fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation.
The Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for short courses offers scholarships for participants living and working in one of the following 50 countries.
The MENA Scholarship Programm(MSP) aims to contribute to the democratic transition in one of the 10 participating countries in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Eligibility: In order to qualify for a NFP Scholarship, you need to meet the following selection criteria. You must:
  • be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the following
    NFP country list (in link below);
  • not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development, for example:
    • multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft),
    • large national and/or a large commercial organisations,
    • bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid),
    • multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organization, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB),
    • international NGO’s (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);
  • must have an official passport that will still be valid for at least three months after completion of the training;
  • must not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;
  • English Language skills: The short courses are taught in English. Therefore, it is important that your English language skills (writing and speaking) are good.
  • Work experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required, working with or for local or regional authorities. It is to your advantage if the work/experience is related to the content of the training.
  • To be eligible for a MSP Scholarship you must meet the selection criteria mentioned above. Furthermore you must:
  • be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the following
    MSP country list  valid at the time of application;
  • have an official passport that will still be valid at least three months after completion of the training;
  • not be over 45 years of age at the time of the grant submission.

BI Presidential Scholarships (Fully-funded) in Norway for Masters Students 2017/2018

Eligibility: Students with top-level grades are eligible, which means a GPA of A on the ECTS scale or equivalent top-level grade on international grade scales.
The scholarship will be extended to the second year of the programme based on the following conditions set below. Documentation of financial need for covering living costs must be stated in the financial plan.
Conditions for Second Year:
1. Full study progression (60 ECTS) in the first year.
2. Minimum GPA of a “B” on the BI ECTS scale after completion of the first year (60 ECTS).
The candidates who are awarded the Presidential Scholarship must be prepared to be “BI ambassadors”, acting as spokespeople, assisting in recruitment efforts and promoting a good study environment. The details regarding responsibilities will be specified in the scholarship contract.

About the Award: These scholarships are targeting both in-country/in-region (sub-Saharan Africa) applicants to support selected RUFORUM regional PhD Programmes in the Eastern and Central Africa (ECA). IWMF Howard Buffett Fund For Women Journalists 2017

The Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists, the first funding initiative of its kind, enables the IWMF to dramatically expand its support of women journalists. Established with a $4 million gift from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Fund will support projects including educational opportunities, investigative reporting and media development initiatives.

UNESCO-Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals 2017/2018

About the Award: The Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals have been designed to promote long-term productive relationships between Rotarians and highly skilled water and sanitation professionals in their communities. There are a significant number of scholarships available to help students wishing to continue their studies to MSc level.  The School offers two strands of Master’s Programmes: Applied Career courses and Academic and Professional courses.  Applied Career Courses provide practical career relevant study for people expecting to take up management roles early in their career and are suitable for graduates of non-business related degrees.
